Scenic Rivers Energy Cooperative is a Touchstone Energy Cooperative. Touchstone is a national alliance of local, consumer-owned electric cooperatives serving more than 17 million customers every day.
Rural Electric Cooperatives were created in the 1930’s as the need for electricity in rural areas increased. Through member-owned cooperatives low cost electricity was provided to those rural residents. Scenic River Energy Cooperative was created with the merger of Crawford Electric and Grant-Lafayette Electric in 1999. The name was chosen because of the beautiful rivers in the area.
Scenic Rivers Energy Cooperative is a member-owned business. All persons receiving electric service from us are members of the cooperative. The members elect nine directors who in turn hire a CEO who hires personnel to operate the day to day business functions. Annual meetings are held in late March or early April and three members are elected to the board each year. While the directors are responsible for guiding the cooperative by setting policies, the employees of Scenic Rivers ensure that you have safe and reliable electric service.
